A Five for Friday Currently!

Here is my Five for Friday... on a Saturday as per usual!

1
My SLANT box for September made it to the post office this week! Sorry Stacey its going to be a bit late!!

2
Look at these cutie capital letter cards I found for free at A Special Kind of Class. Straight into my Challenge Area for my kidlets.

3
Another fantastic find from Mel at Frog Spot are these one more and one less game boards.

4
I made this a little while ago (and I took photos so I must write it up as a 'How to' post) and my class are loving using it to count our number of days in school.

5
And here is this month's Currently from Oh' Boy Fourth Grade.

Listening - Horrible Histories are just so fun to watch (yes I know I'm 20 years older than the target audience)

Loving - The slight (slight!) drop in temperature from the rain today

Thinking - That I failed in my Sunday Scoop aim to blog mid-week :(

Wanting - Not to have so much work to do... it seems never-ending right now!

Needing - to book my half-term holidays, we are considering Sydney... am unbelievably excited!!

Treat - Here is a little Friday Saturday Freebie with a Halloween theme!

I've got mail

So on Monday I was VERY excited to find out that I had not one, but two packages waiting for me after work (and its not even my birthday yet!) It's taken me until today to blog about it, but better late than never!

The first was from a local bookshop with a couple of teaching books I'd seen on sale, some summer reading for me!

But the second... was my SLANT box!!!

Now if you haven't heard of SLANT box, I highly recommend you head over to Lessons With Coffee as the June/July sign ups are still open until Sunday. SLANT boxes are 'spreading love across the nation' for teachers and I participated for the first time in May. I loved getting to know my partners and sent off my box to His and Her Hobbies a few weeks ago. And now mine from Miss Maths Dork has arrived!

Inside was...

Some super cute earrings, maths themed, how appropriate!

Some lovely pastel pens in all my favourite colours (can't wait to try these out)

And a personalised drinking cup in pink!

Thank you so much Jamie, I love it all!!

MissMathDork

I'm taking a break from the next SLANT box because of moving house/spending the summer abroad, but I'll definitely be signing up again!

Five for Friday time

So another week has gone by and another week closer to the end of the year, and yet the work continues to pile up!

I'm linking up again with Doodle Bugs Teaching for the fabulous Five for Friday linky party which is just so much fun if you have never tried it. I've found many of my favourite blogs to read through this link up and I'm sure a lot of my followers have found me the same way!

1
I've posted off my first ever SLANT box to my new friend Amanda from His and Her Hobbies . There are no pictures as I don't spoil the surprise, but hopefully when she receives it she will have a reveal! If you haven't heard of SLANT boxes before, its run by the lovely Jameson from Lessons with Coffee and you get paired up with two people, one to send to and the other to receive from. I can't wait to get my box from Jamie at Miss Math Dork.

2
In my craft club, I've been sewing bookmarks with the children. For some this has meant lots and lots of re-threading needles and untangling knotted thread, but it was worth it when my littlies manage to create pieces like this!

3
As part of the school's healthy eating week, my class cut out pictures to make their own balanced diet plate. I may have created a group of monsters though as I was apparently so passionate about the need for a healthy diet, that at lunchtime they all refused the cake and asked for fruit... the entire week!

4
A website recommendation that I've recently sent out to the parents of my class, Words for Life has reading tips, recommended books and downloadable activities, all split up into age groups. Go check it out!

5
And last, but not least, its our half-term holiday this week (yes I know some people have finished completely, but we have another half a term to get through, so I'm happy about my week off now!) so I intend to do as little work as possible and catch up with my reading. I have 5 new books lined up and have made it my challenge for the week to finish them!
