Thursday Thoughts

A quick post for a link up that I very much enjoy, Mrs Laffin's Positive Thinking Thursday.

My quote this week is...

Although I have another couple of weeks before I have back-to-school, I know many teachers out there are starting back sooner than that. Or perhaps even starting their first teaching job. So this is for them... the impact teachers can have on their students is immeasurable, go out and inspire!

And to help with that I shall be participating in the TpT Blast Off Back-to-School Sale on the 4th and 5th August and putting everything in my store on 20% off which combined with the promo code could give you 28% off your purchases!

Sunday Smorgasbord

Just a couple of random things from my week that I'm using to link up with Fabulous in First.

Finally arrived...

my copy of The Daily 5! This is going to be my summer reading having heard so much about it on various blogs! Stay tuned to see if how I manage to use it in my classroom.

I went on a bit of a shopping spree this week (bought 5 dresses for work) but also bought these.

When I showed my purchase to my best (but non-teacher) friend, her comment was that I was 'such a teacher' to be excited enough to buy pens on my summer holidays.

Also, anyone else tried to blog on an iPad?! Oh my, it's difficult! Much as I don't wish the summer holidays to go any faster I definitely am looking forward to having my laptop back!

Book Talk Tuesday

For today's link up with Mrs Jump's Book Talk Tuesday, I've chosen not a book I've used in the classroom but one I bought just yesterday for a present as it's the summer holidays after all! This is an absolutely adorable book called 'Buster's Farm'.

Buster's Farm is by Rod Campbell, the author of Dear Zoo (another favourite for my classroom) and apparently there are other Buster books available. This one is a touch and feel and has very cute pictures so hopefully will be well received by the baby I shall be meeting for the first time on Friday (let's hope her mother, a teacher friend of mine, doesn't read this before!) I love touch and feel books for babies and the reviews on Amazon claim this one is quite sturdy!

Why don't you head over to Mrs Jump's Class to find some other great book recommendations?

A Positively Thinking Five for Friday!

Finally on my summer holidays!!

Blog posts are going to be even more erratic than usual (sorry!) as I embark on my summer tour of going home (and staying in various spare rooms of friends and relatives!) But let's make a start to my good intentions of still being able to post with a combo linky post with both Doodlebugs' Five for Friday and Mrs Laffin's Positively Thinking Thursday.

Summer Bloggin' with The Teaching Tribune has been one of the best blogging series I've had the chance to become involved with. Head on over to grab their last Free Font Friday!

My summer readathon has commenced on my first flight with 'Discovery of Witches' by Deborah Harkness, I loved it so much, I've already moved onto the sequel and am ready for the final book in the trilogy due out next week! Highly recommended if you like a bit of paranormal mixed with historical fiction! Click on the image to grab it from Amazon.

Half my favourite bloggers appear to be in Vegas, maybe I should start saving up for next year! Until then I'm enjoying entering all the different giveaways they are hosting!

I won a giveaway the other day from Love, Laughter and Learning in Prep! I was so excited as I don't think I've won anything before! It was a very fun looking game called 'Hey Presto' and I can't wait to try it in my classroom.

And finally, my positive thought for the week! Even if I'm a day late...

Now I certainly don't have months for my holidays, but I do hope that the moments I have with my friends and family this summer will be enough as being away from them can be extremely hard (the hardest thing about my current job) and going home has been what I've looked forward too since last year!

Tuesday Meet Up!

So I'm a day late, but I wanted to post as I've managed to link up every week so far with The Teaching Tribune's Summer Bloggin' series at some point and I didn't want to miss their last week!

http://www.theteachingtribune.com/2014/07/monday-meet-up-6.html

I absolutely adored reading as a child (I still do, but unfortunately have a lot more boring real life things to fill my time with now!) I would read everything and anything, I was the torch under the bedclothes kinda girl!

Xanthe is just a name I really like, I've actually used it as a sign in name when I was younger, maybe I should name a my future daughter it!

My class used to receive free milk cartons every morning, I had trained up the kiddies to hand them out, they passed one to me, not realising it was an old one left over from the day before that had missed being thrown away. I took one mouthful and promptly threw it back up in the sink. Not my best ever memory!

I would love to meet Harry Potter, I visited Harry Potter world last summer and really really wanted to have been at Hogwarts!

I have one brother who is 3 years younger than me (though loads taller!)

Milo is my favourite drink, when I lived in England, I used to import it as you didn't used to be able to buy it there. Roti canai is a traditional Malay food, kinda like a pancake that you dip in curry sauce or dhal. Yum!

Positively Thinking Thursday

I thought I would try a new link up for me with Mrs Laffin for Positively Thinking Thursday.

When I first started my blog (over 7 months ago now!) I used to start my posts with a quote associated with butterflies, when I got my new blog design created by Christi I stopped, but I thought I would use one today! This one is perfect as tomorrow is my last teaching day for the year and I will be saying goodbye to possibly my favourite class ever to have taught (next year's will never win my heart in quite the same way!)

July Currently

As another month rolls around, so does another Currently linky party with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade.

Listening - to the sound of my ceiling fan, no tv shows or musical soundtracks for once! Too hot to not have the fan on over here.

Loving - only a couple of days until the end of term, the end is in sight!

Thinking  - about my multiple to-do lists, one for work, one for home, one for my summer plans!

Wanting - someone to finish my packing... moving day is Saturday and I'm not half done yet!!

Needing  - sleep must be stress related, but really not sleeping well at the moment :(

4th plans - we don't celebrate this over here, so its an ordinary day, well ordinary apart from the fact it is actually our last teaching day, so I'll be saying goodbye to my littlies!
